01 — Hike
Avalanche Lake
Despite spending three summers in Whitefish, Nick didn't hike to Avalanche Lake until May 2026, after he and Syd biked to the Loop and back.
Glacier National Park
These are some of the hikes and adventures we have loved most in the park. We hope they help you find your own favorite corner of Glacier.
01 — Hike
Despite spending three summers in Whitefish, Nick didn't hike to Avalanche Lake until May 2026, after he and Syd biked to the Loop and back.
02 — Hike
Nick hiked Siyeh Pass with work friends on an overcast day. They didn't spot any wildlife, but the mountain views more than made up for it.
03 — Hike
On Syd's first visit to Glacier, we hiked Hidden Lake with friends and ate lunch at the top while mountain goats wandered nearby.
04 — Hike
Iceberg Lake will always be special to us: it's where we got engaged on August 1, 2026. Thanks to Brody and Erin for capturing the moment.
05 — Three-day backpacking trip
A few weeks after getting engaged, we hiked 35 miles with stops at Kintla Lake, Hole-in-the-Wall, and Lake Frances. When a rainstorm kept us at Hole-in-the-Wall, we turned our teepee tent into a hot tent.
06 — Hike
After Syd ran a trail half marathon, we hiked to Sperry Chalet just in time for Thanksgiving dinner. We drank plenty of lemonade and even got a visit from a mountain goat.
07 — Hike
Nick, Syd, and Rhys raced from Sperry to Jackson Glacier Overlook, passing Lake Ellen Wilson as the sun rose over Gunsight Pass and mountain goats took over the trail.
09 — Hike
Nick has skied Mount Brown twice. Low visibility turned him back the first time; the second brought perfect spring corn and views of Mount Edwards and the Little Matterhorn on the way down.
10 — Adventure
Syd has a love-hate relationship with biking the Going-to-the-Sun Road, but the seafood boil after her first ride helped make up for it.
11 — Adventure
We went on a guided rafting trip in June 2026. Syd managed a perfect smile for the camera, while Nick looked a little too busy to pose.
Make a weekend of it
Glacier is best experienced with a little time to wander. Bring good shoes, leave room for a slow morning, and see where the day takes you.
